Betty lived a life touched by the risen Christ. This new life in her overflowed to others through her forthright declaration of the gospel and Christ-like life. After her conversion in 1979, she became a torch, burning with zeal and love that illumined the darkness for many others. From this, God produced flame, many hearts were set aflame for Christ and His kingdom. Her life and example remains with me (and many other believers) as a motivation to run the race still left before us with unashamed courage and devotion.
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
