Obituary of Robert L. Joyce, Sr.
Robert Leo Joyce (Bob), died at the age of 95 after a long and full life, surrounded by family. Bob was predeceased by his wife of 63 years, Monica (Hooper) and survived by two children; Bob (Robin) and Peggy (Tom-dec.) Feuerstein.. He will be forever cherished and remembered by his grandchildren Andrew Joyce, Rob (Dani) Joyce, Amanda Joyce, John Feuerstein, Tom (Pam) Feuerstein, and Keo (Dave) Van Why. Bob thoroughly enjoyed his great-grandchildren; Easton, Taylor, Emmitt, Ronan, Emily, James, Ava, Tommy, and Maddie, In addition, he is survived by his brothers and sister; Tom (Joan) Joyce, Jack (Carol) Joyce, and Mary Lou Pascucci as well as brother-in-laws Tom (Kathy) Hooper, and Jim Hopper.
Bob was predeceased by his father Leo A. Joyce and his mother, Margaret Louise (Edgar), his mother/father in-laws Margaret and Harry Hooper; his son-in-law, Tom Feuerstein; brothers and sisters-in-law Nick Pascucci; Frank (Marion) Schlager; Harold (Regina) Petrie; Gloria Hooper; and Harry (Betty) Hooper.
He was born and raised in Lackawanna, NY. , attended Lackawanna High School, and graduated from Canisus College. He subsequently earned masters degrees in math and education. After military service, he married Monica Hooper in 1955 and joined the faculty at Lackawanna High School, teaching math and science until his retirement. In his spare time, Bob loved golf and spent many happy hours in pursuit of that lower handicap at Gowanda CC and Wanakah CC. He and Monica spent their final years together at Elderwood Rosedale in Hamburg, where he lived for 10 years. Bob always had a smile on his face and was willing to share his passions for golf, family, and wood working with others. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Calling Hours will be from 4-6PM on Tuesday, February 27, 2024 at the Donald M. Demmerley Funeral Home, 21 Pierce Ave. Hamburg, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM on Wednesday, February 28th at SS Peter & Paul Church, 66 East Main St., Hamburg, NY. A burial will follow at SS Peter & Paul Cemetery.
