Martha was my mother in law, and I was always so impressed by how much everyone loved her. She was very social, walked with neighbors, played cards with all her friends and family and was always having lunch with friends. A true child of the depression, it would amuse me when she tried to get her sons, and then grandchildren, to eat more food at a meal than anyone could ever eat. She was an excellent cook; even though we have a cookbook of her recipes, I never could match her quality. And she was very artistic (my daughter Sabrina inherited that), doing crafts but mostly sewing, including beautiful quilts. When my kids were small she carted the girls to dance and the boys to baseball, always making sure they had a good dinner. My favorite memory was when we girls were talking about taking a trip to St. Marteen (which she had no idea where that was) and she wanted to go with us. So we took her! She had a great time. Rest in peace Martha.
