Dear family of Annie Momberger, My name is Bill Poole. I worked at Bethlehem Steel Clinic with Annie and Dr. Joseph Dziob. I began there as an "aid man" when Annie was supervisor of nurses. In 1970, I received my Bachelor of Science nursing from Niagara University and Annie retired after Dr. Dziob appointed me to her position. Annie was a saint of the first degree as her position required her to be Dr. Dzobs scrub nurse in major surgery at OLV and she was the epitome of an ideal scrub nurse, knowing every instrument the doctor would want long. I couldn't hold a candle to her performance and the other scrub nurses at Our Lady of Victory Hospital were so sad to see her go as it meant they had to scrub in with Dr. Dziob who acted as if nurses were to wipe his feet on because no one could attain the level of excellence provided by Annie. She was a warm, caring professional whose duties also included supervision a staff of nurses, EMTs, physical therapists, clerks and x-ray technicians as well as ordering all supplies for the clinic and Dr. Dziob's private practice conducted with the blessing of Steel Plant management. She taught me so much and has been dear to my heart as was her assistant Millie Gent. May the blessings she provided so many come to rest with the family as a comfort to all of you in this time of need.
