Obituary of Joseph P. Meegan

Joseph P. Meegan passed away in the early morning on July 15, 2021. He was a kind and generous man who loved his family with all his heart and he will be sorely missed by them. He is survived by his wife, Joyce (nee Lauchert) and three children; Joseph C. Meegan, Siobhan Meegan, Colleen (Shawn) Tracy. He also had 6 grandchildren (Collin, Ryleigh, Molly, Meegan, Connor and Clara) and one great-grandchild (Griffin). He was a proud first generation American of Irish descent. He grew up in Lackawanna, NY with 7 siblings; Maureen (late Clark) Zimmermann, Sharon (late Edmond) Burke, Kevin (Anne), the late Stephen (Mary Anne), the late Nance Kirisitis, Therese Maul and Michael (Carolyn). He also is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded by his parents Joseph C. and Beatrice (nee Cusack)) Meegan. Born on March 15, 1936, he was a devote Roman Catholic who belonged to SS. Peter & Paul Church in Hamburg, NY since 1966. He managed the Buffalo Metropolitan Federal Credit Union (which was begun by his father) in downtown Buffalo, NY from 1971 to 1991. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at SS. Peter & Paul RC Church, 66 East Main Street, Hamburg on Monday, July 26 at 10:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the St. Vincent de Paul Society.
