Obituary of Joseph Ian Cocina
Cocina, Joseph Ian of Boston, New York passed away on Thursday, June 11, 2020 at home after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born November 21, 1996 in Sochi, Russia and moved to the United States when he was 10 months old. Beloved son of Joseph Jr. and Janice (nee Eggen) Cocina; favorite uncle of Marshall Cocina and Michael Malesa; also survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends. Ian was a 2015 graduate of Springville-Griffith High Schoool where he excelled in track and cross country. He studied at Arizona State University for a short period and then transferred to Buffalo State University whre he studied History, working toward a teaching degree. Ian had many interests, he loved to build things out of Legos, enjoyed art especially drawing and painting. He also was a history buff and liked hiking. A Celebration of Ian's Life will be held at a later date. The family suggests memorial contributions to Hospice Foundation of WNY, 225 Como Park Boulevard, P.O. Box 590, Buffalo, New York 14240.
